Fundación Progreso y Salud carries out research and innovation activities in Health through 10 research groups distributed among different centres in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. It also manages and supports R&D&I within the Andalusian public health system. In this regard, FPS fully or partially manages spaces dedicated to multidisciplinary biomedical research that integrate basic and applied research with the aim of improving the health problems of citizens and their quality of life, such as the thematic centres CABIMER and GENYO; or unique platforms such as the Biobank of the Andalusian Public Health System or the network of GMP laboratories for the manufacture of advanced therapy drugs, to mention just a few.
It is home to important work areas for the generation of knowledge in the field of R&D&I that benefits patients: the Health Technology Assessment area; the Technology Transfer office; the Virtual Library of the APHS; the Computational Medicine Platform; and, recently, the Technical Office for Innovative Public Procurement in Health, among others.
Fundación Progreso y Salud is the coordinating body of the Network of Research Management Foundations in the Andalusian Public Health System (RFGI-SSPA) with a presence in all the provinces of the region, whose main objective is to support the professionals of the APHS in the development of their research activity, proactively promoting R&D&I in Health and guaranteeing professionals equal and fair access to a homogeneous portfolio of services.
The RFGI-SSPA is made up of seven foundations: FCÁDIZ (Cádiz), FIBICO (Córdoba), FABIS (Huelva), FIMABIS (Málaga), FISEVI (Seville), FIBAO (with an interprovincial character, covering Granada, Jaén and Almería) and the Fundación Progreso y Salud (FPS) as coordinator.
